“Payday loan” campaign suffers setback

April 6, 2012 By admin

The petition campaign to put a Payday Loan issue on the November ballot has suffered a major setback from a judge who says the proposed ballot title was likely to deceive people. The ballot title is on the petition sheets people are asked the sign. Campaign organizers say they’ve gathered about 100,000 signatures and don’t have time to start over before the May 6th deadline for filing the petitions. They’re going to keep gathering signatures although the ruling raises questions about whether signatures already gathered are valid.
