Iberia woman faces jury trial for fatally burning her baby

An Iberia woman accused of burning her baby to death will face a Laclede County jury this fall.

Twenty-eight-year-old Christina White will not face the death penalty because she has been found to be mentally disabled.

She’s charged with first-degree murder, first-degree arson and endangering the welfare of a child. White allegedly set her 7-month-old baby’s blanket on fire in 2007. The baby died after being hospitalized for nearly a month, suffereing burns on more than 60 percent of his body.
