The Kansas City Royals signed outfielder Alex Gordon to a four-year contract on Friday.

The deal includes a player option for the 2016 campaign.

The 28-year-old Gordon hit .303 with 23 homers, 45 doubles and 87 RBI in 151 games last season. He also won his first American League Gold Glove.

A second-overall pick of the Royals in the 2005 draft, the Nebraska native has hit .262 with 68 homers, 132 doubles and 248 RBI in 559 career games with the Royals.
