Another Royals pitcher goes down

March 29, 2012 By Bill Pollock

Felipe Paulino has a sore elbow and will start on the DL. He was fighting for a spot in the rotation. The Royals will start five players on the DL including closer Joakim Soria and starting catcher Salvador Perez.

Managed Ned Yost finalized the starting rotation with right-hander Luis Mendoza on as the fourth starter and left-hander Danny Duffy to fill the fifth spot. They’ll pitch the first two games of the season’s second series in Oakland.

Yost announced that lefty Bruce Chen would pitch the season opener against the Los Angeles Angels at Anaheim, followed by right-hander Luke Hochevar and left-hander Jonathan Sanchez in the next two games of the series.
