World’s longest basketball game played to benefit Joplin

March 26, 2012 By Mike Lear

The longest basketball game in history has come to an end in St.Louis after 112 hours and two minutes. The game was played as a fund-raiser for Joplin tornado relief and to set a new world record.

Team Joplin beat Team St.Louis 11-thousand-806 to 11-thousand-620. Former Missouri Tiger player Jeff Hafer led all scorers with more than three-thousand points.  It won’t be known until later this week how much money was raised.

The old record longest game was 107 hours.
