Cardinals should have two Carpenters on the roster

March 26, 2012 By Bill Pollock

Hitting .350 this spring has just about wrapped up a spot on the Cardinals starting day roster for rookie Matt Carpenter. As the Cardinals get ready for the Mets today, manager Mike Matheny is experimenting with Matt to see how the third baseman handles first base as Lance Berkman gets a day off.

The Carpenter that everyone is familiar with, starting pitcher Chris, is also back with the team after spending the weekend in St. Louis undergoing tests on his neck and shoulder. Chris will begin working on a strength program soon. No timetable has been set on his return.
