Price hike considered for St. Louis Metro

March 24, 2012 By Mike Lear

The price to ride some St. Louis public transportation could be going up.

The Metro transit agency has released its 2012-13 operating budget, which calls for the first fare increase in over three years. How much that increase might be is still being considered.

Metro President and CEO John Nations says the agency is looking at raising the price of weekly and monthly passes beginning July 1. A hike in the price of one-way fares is not being ruled out.

The proposed increases would be subject to public hearings in April.
