Unused St. Louis school buildings to house homeless

March 21, 2012 By Jessica Machetta

The St. Louis school sale has sold seven vacant buildings in the last few weeks. The most recent sale is to a community services group paid $350,000 per  building, saying it wants to turn them into apartments for people who are chronically homeless.

Loss of population in the district over the past several decades has left the school district with 40 empty buildings.
