General Manager Scott Pioli told the Kansas City Star he wasn’t sure why Peyton Manning had no interest in joining the Chiefs. Pioli says Manning made it very clear that he had a specific plan and teams that he wanted to meet with and that the Chiefs would not be in those plans.

Pioli didn’t push Manning for further explanations and stated, “He (Manning) just had his favorites and place he wanted to purse for his reasons.” Instead of chasing after Manning, Pioli turned his attention to signing former Denver backup Brady Quinn as well as free agent offensive lineman Eric Winston and tight end Kevin Boss.
