Winter was sixth warmest on record

March 20, 2012 By admin

Winter officially goes away this week and the National Weather Service offices throughout the state are calculating how warm the winter has been. The St. Louis Weather Bureau says the winter of 2011-2012 is the sixth warmest on record, and official records go back to 1874. The average temperature of 40.1 degrees is the warmest since the winter of 1931-1932 when the average was 41.3 degrees. All of the other warm winters were in the 19th century.
