Gov. Nixon down one in the NCAA bracket challenge

March 16, 2012 By Bill Pollock

After the first day of the NCAA tournament, Governor Jay Nixon had a strong start picking 13 of the 16 games correctly, but Missourinet Sports Director Bill Pollock picked 14 out of 16 to grab the early lead.

March Madness

The difference in the first round was that I picked VCU while the Governor went with Wichita State, who came back late from a double digit deficit to close the gap, but lost late to last year’s Cinderella story. The Governor had the Shockers winning their second round game as well. Iowa State came up with a nice pick for Governor Nixon in their win over UCONN and has been a great story for the Big 12.

We both lost UNLV over Colorado and I was fortunate to have made a last minute change in selecting Gonzaga over West Virginia, where I gained my point over the Governor.

Heading into day two, we have four differnt picks:
Gov’s picks are Notre Dame over Xavier, SLU over Memphis, Bama over Creighton and S.D. State over N.C. State.
