Mizzou women upset OSU, advance to quarterfinals

March 8, 2012 By Bill Pollock

The Missouri women’s basketball won a total of two conference games this season, but that didn’t slow them in the opening round of the Big 12 tournament as the Tigers upset #7 seed Oklahoma State 72-68.

Mizzou used a 10-0 run to open up a 25 point lead with just over 13 minutes to play, but things got interesting. At theĀ  under-4 minute media timeout, the Cowgirls cut Missouri’s lead to 12 and eventually got it down to a one possession game by hitting two three-pointers in the final minute.

Both Christine Flores and BreAnna Brock recorded double-doubles on the night as Flores finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds and Brock with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Mizzou will face the No. 2 seed, Oklahoma, Thursday at 5 p.m
