Missouri is becoming the latest state to ask to be excused from the No Child Left Behind Law. The state board of education has approved the application. No Child Left Behind says students should be proficient in math and reading within two more years. But federal education secretary Arne Duyndan is allowing states the chance to get a waiver for those accountability standards. Eleven states’ applications already have been approved.
