Phone scammer sentenced to term in federal prison

One of three men who telephoned elderly people and falsely told them their grandchildren were in Mexican hospitals or jails, and needed money for treatment or bond, has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison. Jerome Mills of Berkeley and the other two got 85-thousand dollars out of their calls., He’s been ordered to repay 49-thousand dollars. Mills has refused to identify the other two men involved.
