The University of Central Missouri announced today that Chris Port will be the first head coach of the Jennies golf program when they begin play next year.  “Chris is an excellent teacher of the game and I believe will be a great coach to begin the women’s golf program at Central Missouri” said UCM Athletic Director Jerry Hughes.

Port is no stranger to Central Missouri. He played golf for the Mules from 1990-92 under head coach Tim Poe and has worked at Keth Memorial Golf Course since 1995, including the last seven years as the Head Golf Professional. He has been a volunteer assistant coach with the Mules’ golf team since he returned to UCM in 1995.

Port graduated from Central Missouri in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He spent three years as an assistant golf professional at the St. Louis Country Club in St. Louis, Mo. before returning to Warrensburg. He has been a golf professional for 19 years and a Class A member of the Professional Golfers Association of America since 1997.
