Elliot lifts Blues against former team

February 8, 2012 By Bill Pollock

Brian Elliot made 28 saves leading the Blues to a 3-1 win against his former team, the Senators on Tuesday night. The Blues handed Ottawa their seventh loss in a row. Elliot returned to Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, where he just played in the All-Star game.

The Blues were outshot 29-18, but they were efficient. David Perron had two goals and Chris Porter also scored for the Blues, who went through two Ottawa goalies after Craig Anderson stopped only two of four shots before being replaced by Alex Auld.

The Blues jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 3:49 of the opening period. Daniel Alfredsson, one of the All-Star captains, scored for Ottawa in the second to draw them to within a goal, but Perron added his second of the game at 6:35 of the second to give the Blues their two goal cushion.
