Retired St. Louis teacher accused of sex crimes

February 4, 2012 By Mike Lear

A retired teacher is accused of 18 crimes including the rape and exploitation of a 15-year-old girl inside a classroom at the Central Visual and Performing Arts Academy in south St. Louis.

The victim says 72 year-old Allen Merry had sex with her several times over the course of three years while teaching music for Bunche International Studies, which shared a building with the Academy in 2006.

Merry retired in 2011 but was an after-school provider at another facility until his arrest.
