Ameren requests rate increase

February 4, 2012 By Mike Lear

Ameren Missouri wants permission to raise its electric rates by $376 million, or 15 percent, to cover infrastructure upgrades, fuel cost increases and other expenses. The increase would amount to about $14 a month for the average residential customer with 1,100 kilowatt-hours’ usage.

The utility has filed its request with the Public Service Commission, who six months ago approved a $172 million increase for Ameren.
