The tornado blew away a lot of things in Joplin last May but it apparently didn’t blow away the city’s budget. Joplin’s finance director says the city incurred $24 million in damage to its property. But he says insurance and reimbursements from the state and federal governments will pay for those damages. In fact, he says, the city might wind up about $130,000 to the good.
