Williams to be Rams next Defensive Coordinator

January 16, 2012 By Bill Pollock

Gregg Williams is expected to become Jeff Fisher’s defensive coordinator with the St. Louis Rams. The Saints’ defensive coordinator’s contract expires after the season. Fisher is still finalizing his contract to become the Rams’ head coach.

Williams, native of Excelsior Springs, MO, has called Fisher one of his closest friends in the coaching business.

New Orleans was eliminated from the playoffs after Saturday’s 36-32 loss to the 49ers.

Former Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo is rumored to be on New Orleans’ short list of defensive coordinator candidates to replace Williams.
