The former president of the company fired from handling the state’s Medicaid claims has filed for bankruptcy protection. SynCare President Stephanie DeKemper lists debts of almost $6 million and assets of less than $800,000.

Among the debts she and SynCare owe are $350,000 in employees’ unpaid salaries and more in expenses that have not been reimbursed.

The state Department of Health dropped SynCare as the management of Medicaid services last year after getting a lot of complaints from clients.
