Objections from O’Fallon subdivision residents appear to have damaged plans by the Wentzville school district to build a second high school. The city council has voted against a rezoning change for an 80-acre piece of land the school district already owns. The land is now zoned for residential use. The district wanted it to be changed to conditional use.

The city Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended the change, but nearby subdivision residents say the change would increase traffic and reduce home values.

School officials are re-examining  their position.
