Last second shot sinks Missouri State

January 14, 2012 By Bill Pollock

Northern Iowa won its third one-point game over Missouri State in the last four meetings with a 61-60 victory at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, IA.  The Bears (11-7, 4-2) got a career-high 24 points from Caleb Patterson who was 7-of-8 from the field and 3-of-3 from three-point range. Kyle Weems added 16 points and a game-high 9 rebounds for MSU.

With the clock winding down and the Bears up 60-59, Weems was whistled for a charge with 22.6 seconds left. On UNI’s next possession, Chip Rank hit a basket in traffic with 2.0 seconds left.

Missouri State returns to JQH Arena on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. to take on Evansville (7-9, 2-4).
