Authorities seek potentially radioactive tissue box covers

January 14, 2012 By Mike Lear

The Environmental Protection Agency has issued a recall for metal tissue box covers sold at Bed, Bath and Beyond retailers … because they may contain a radioactive substance.

Six covers delivered to a Bed, Bath & Beyond store in St. Louis were found to contain cobalt-60. Those have been secured by the Agency but six more are thought to have been sold to customers.

Several agencies are working to find those customers. The State Health Department says no other covers are thought to have been sold in Missouri.
