Former Michigan Congressman Mark Deli Siljander has been sentenced to a year in prison because he lobbied for the Islamic American Relief Agency, which was based in Columbia. The charity has been listed as a terrorist organization.

He admits he lied to FBI agents and federal prosecutors about his work.

He’s one of five people sentenced in the case. One of them is Mubarak Hamed of Columbia, the former executive director of the IARA who sent more than $1 million to Iraq, violating federal sanctions. He’s been sentenced to almost six years in prison. Two other men got probation
