In his first game back in Montreal since the Canadiens traded Jaroslav Halak in June of 2010, the Blues goalie made 19 saves for his second shutout of the season as St. Louis Blues beat Montreal 3-0. The win was the Blues’ fourth in a row and second shutout in back to back games.

David Backes and Chris Stewart each had a goal and an assist and Jason Arnott also scored for the Blues who got a 4-0 shutout from Brian Elliott in a win Saturday over Colorado.

Halak’s former fans appreciated the goalie’s performance. He was named the number one star of the game and came out to a standing ovation afterwards. “It felt great to come out and get the ovation from all the people,” said Halak.

In other news, former Blues general manager Ron Caron, the man responsible for bringing star players like Brett Hull, Al MacInnis, Brendan Shannahan and Bernie Federko to the Blues died Monday night in Montreal after a lengthy illness. He was 82.
