December 31, 2011 By Missourinet Contributor

Martin Erat ended a scoreless shootout in the fifth round Friday to give the Nashville Predators a 2-1 victory over St. Louis.

The Predators have won two straight, both coming in shootouts. Pekka Rinne stopped 35 shots in regulation and overtime and then turned aside five shootout attempts.

St. Louis has been in five games decided by a shootout this season and the Blues have lost them all.

Nashville took the lead when Matt Halischuk tipped in a shot 2:16 into the first period. T.J. Oshie tied it with 6:20 to play in the opening stanza.

Jaroslav Halak took the loss while stopping 33 shots.
