Absences hold up vote to nix police department

December 28, 2011 By Mike Lear

A vote has again been delayed on dissolving the Police Department for the St. Louis-area city of Dellwood.

Some City Council members want to contract with St. Louis County for law enforcement, but four members don’t and have refused to show up to several meetings to vote on the issue.

The tactic is also holding up a vote on the city’s budget, which is supposed to be ready to take effect at the beginning of the new year.
