Jackson tops 1,000 yards in loss to Steelers

December 24, 2011 By Bill Pollock

For the seventh consecutive season Rams running back Steven Jackson has rushed for more than 1,000 yards. He needed just 34 coming into the game, but finished with 103 becoming just the seventh back to accomplish that feat. That was the only bright spot in the Rams 27-0 loss to the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

Charlie Batch threw for 208 yards filling in for Ben Roethlisberger. Rashard Mendenhall ran for 116 yards and a score as Pittsburgh moved to 11-4 and remain alive in the AFC North title race.

Kellen Clemons, making his second start at quarterback, went just 9 of 24 for 91 yards. The Rams lost their sixth straight to drop into a tie for the league’s worst record with a week to go in the season.
