A public hearing next month will help postal leaders decide what happens mail processing center in Springfield. Midwest Regional spokesman Richard Watkins says its part of a system wide review.

Watkins says the only decision that’s been made is the request from leaders in Congress to delay any closings until May. He also says if the processing center in Springfield is shut down, there should be jobs for displaced workers in Kansas City. Watkins says consolidating Springfield operations with those in Kansas City would save more than seven million dollars

The hearing is set for January 4th in Springfield.
