Former campaign aid says GOP needs to recognize gay members

December 21, 2011 By Brian Hauswirth

Until recently Lucas Case worked for the Senate campaign of Missouri Republican Sarah Steelman but says he reached a point where politics as usual conflicted with his sense of self. Case says he’s not alone and the Missouri GOP needs to recognize its gay members.

Case says there are a lot of gay politicians in Jefferson City and the time has come for them to stand for what’s right. But he won’t be outing anyone. He says if that’s what anyone thinks he’s doing, they’re “blatantly just wrong.”

Case says his vision for Republicans is one of a smaller more efficient government by and for the people, that does not restrict an individual’s liberties.
