MO provides roadmap in Wisconsin law suits

December 19, 2011 By Brian Hauswirth

The latest suit against the requirement Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed into law last spring, filed by the Milwaukee Chapter of the NAACP and Voces De La Frontera. Attorney Richard Saks represents those groups. He says the lawsuit is the “identical roadmap” that Missourians used successfully in overturning the law that required a photo ID to get into a polling place.

The suit argues Wisconsin’s constitution guarantees that right. The suit seeks an injunction which would bar implementation of photo ID before the spring elections  – and any recall elections. The latest action follows suits filed by the League of Women Voters, also in Dane County, and by the ACLU in federal court .
