The Senate has passed a two-month extension of the payroll tax cut, but the House isn’t happy about it. Senator Blunt says he doesn’t know why there’s such a disconnect between House and Senate Republicans, but can see they wanted a longer term fix.

He says House Republicans are unhappy with the plan because it’s a short-term fix. House Speaker John Boehner, who is a Republican, says the House will not accept a two-month plan, but only on that is for at least a year. Blunt says he doesn’t know if that will be able to happen.

House Republicans are saying they will not vote for this deal, but Senate leadership says it will not renegotiate with House leaders. Debate starts Monday night.
