One day after interim head coach Romeo Crennel said he would not make wholesale personnel or sweeping changes to the team, he made a decision at quarterback. Tyler Palko will not be the starter. Who will start on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers is still up in the air.

Crennel has option A and B all ready to go. Kyle Orton will be the starting quarterback if his right index finger responds and recovers from an injury he suffered two games ago at Chicago. If Orton is unable to go, then Crennel is turning the job over to rookie Ricky Stanzi.

Crennel was asked the obvious question of what he saw in Orton or Stanzi that he hasn’t seen in Palko and his response was simple. “The thing that he hasn’t done is he hasn’t been able to put points on the board.”

If there was a game tonight, it’s highly unlikely that Orton would be able to start. Crennel wanted Orton and Stanzi to take about 50% of the snaps and Crennel said on Wednesday that Orton was good on short throws. Now the key is to see how he does with long range passes.
