The Sporting News named Springfield Hillcrest wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham its high school athlete of the year. In addition to Missouri, several schools are in the running for his services including Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Alabama.

No matter what opposing defenses threw at Hillcrest, they had no answer for Green-Beckham who caught 119 passes for 2,233 yards and 24 touchdowns in leading his team to an 11-2 record.  Green-Beckham broke the national record for career receiving yardage, previously held by former LSU receiver Abram Booty. Green-Beckham finished with 6,447 career yards, breaking the record by almost 600 yards.

Finishing third in SN’s selection was Missouri commit, quarterback Maty Mauk, who broke his brother Ben Mauk’s national mark for career passing yardage. Maty ended his career at 18,929 yards, including 5,413 yards and 68 touchdowns.

I would love to hear Mike Kelly calling Mauk to DGB touchdowns for the Tigers. Watch more on DGB from Sporting News.
