The Miami Marlins signed free agent shortstop Jose Reyes and now as the Winter Meetings begin Monday, the south Florida team is setting its sights once again on first basemen Albert Pujols. Reyes was signed to a six year, $106 million deal, and while they stated they had just enough payroll to handle one big free agent signing, the club apparently is not done fishing around the free agent market.

Miami will meet once again with Pujols’ agent Dan Lozano. The Marlins entertained Pujols and his agent before Thanksgiving, but their first offer was reportedly much lower than the Cardinals Spring Training offer of $198 million over nine years.

Lozano also plans to meet with the Cardinals’ brass at the Winter Meetings on Monday.
