Father and son die in train crash

December 5, 2011 By Brian Hauswirth

A crash between a train and a dump truck east of Seymour leaves a father and son dead.  The Highway Patrol says 58-year-old Gary Lee from Seymour and 34-year-old Chad Lee from Ava were in a truck that belonged to the Seymour Special Road district.  Stephanie Hickey from Seymour says she got out to help after the crash, but there was nothing she could do.

The Highway Patrol says the driver of the truck failed to stop at the tracks on Oaklawn Road off Highway 60.  Troopers say the crossing has a stop sign, but does not have a stop arm or flashing lights.
