Mark Alnutt (L) and Gary Pinkel (R) at Mizzou's bowl announcement

The Missouri Tigers received an at-large bid to play North Carolina in the Independence Bowl on Monday, December 26th. Mizzou will be making their third appearance in Shreveport, Louisiana in the Gary Pinkel era.

Mizzou played Arkansas in 2003 and South Carolina in 2005. This is the seventh straight season that the Tigers will be playing in a bowl game.

Head coach Gary Pinkel said this bowl actually works out better for the Tigers instead of a bowl game in New York’s Yankee Stadium. It will be closer for Texas kids on the roster and easier travel for Tiger fans to make the trip. Wide receiver LaDamaian Washington is from Shreveport.
