LSU rips Georgia for SEC title

December 3, 2011 By Bill Pollock

Trailing 10-7 at the half, the LSU Tigers assured themselves a spot in the BCS Championship game, scoring 35 unanswered points to beat the Georgia Bulldogs 42-10.

Tyrann Mathieu returned a punt 62 yards for a touchdown, putting LSU on the board in the first, then set up another score with a fumble recovery and another long return set up another Tigers’ score.

This all came after Georgia had a chance to put LSU away early. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 10-0 lead that could’ve been even bigger if they hadn’t dropped a pair of potential touchdown passes in the first quarter. LSU was shut down by Georgia’s defense, going three-and-out on all seven of its possessions before halftime.
