KC airport searched for explosives

December 3, 2011 By Brian Hauswirth

Airport police searched a plane for explosives Friday night at Kansas City International Airport, according to an Aviation Department spokeswoman.

The airplane was a Delta flight operated by Mercury Air and bound for Kansas City from the New York area, says KC Aviation Department spokeswoman Kathleen Hefner.

The plane landed before 10 p.m. and was taken to a “safe spot” away from buildings and other planes. Airport police used an explosive-detecting dog to go through the aircraft. Hefner said the passengers’ bags were searched and no explosives were found.
