Residents of Malden in Southeast Missouri complained at a recent city council meeting that the city was euthanizing unwanted strays using a gas chamber, which is outlawed in 19 other states.
Those opposed to that method say it’s cruel, because animals could suffer, because it takes a while. Council members asked that alternate solutions be presented in writing to the committee, but they had to be cost effective.
