The St. Louis Blues won their fourth in a row and eight of the first 11 under their new coach Ken Hitchcock. Their latest win came against another coach making his debut, longtime Capital favorite Dale Hunter, as the Blues won 2-1 on the road.

The Capital scored midway through the opening period on a goal from Nicklas Backstrom, but just five minutes later, T.J. Oshie backhanded a rebound from Alex Steen that hit the cross bar and nearly came straight down. Oshie tapped in the tying goal at 15:48.

Matt D’Agostini scored the game winner on a wrap around, 8:54 into the second period, after Caps goalie Tomas Vokoun got hung up on the side of the net. Jaroslav Halak stopped 18 shots for the win.

The Blues, 8-1-2 since Hitchcock took over, have moved up to fourth in the Western Conference.
