Billikens suffer loss in first game since national ranking

November 30, 2011 By Bill Pollock

No. 25/23 Saint Louis lost 75-68 to Loyola Marymount Tuesday in non-conference men’s basketball action in Los Angeles. The loss is the first of the season for the 6-1 Billikens.

SLU led most of the first half and built a 10-point lead at 26-16, but that was cut to 30-26 at the half. In the second half, the game was tied five times and the lead changed hands six times. SLU was up 52-51 before LMU went on a 7-0 run to grab the lead for good. SLU was allowing just 54 points a game, good for 12th in the nation heading into last night’s game.

Saint Louis opens a seven-game homestand on Saturday when it welcomes Portland to Chaifetz Arena. Tip time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
