Nixon: exports, jobs on the rise in Missouri

November 17, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

Governor Nixon says Missouri’s international exports are up 12 percent this quarter over this time last year, and are up more than 13 percent for the year.

He says that equals an additional $1.2 billion through the first three quarters of 20-11, after increasing 35 percent during 2010.

The Department of Economic Development says the state gained about 1,100 new jobs in October, and that the unemployment rate fell to 8.5 percent, down by two-tenths of a point from September. The national rate stands at 9 percent.
