A lawyer for a man who tried to open the door of an airliner while it was in flight will plead guilty to federal charges of a crime involving an aircraft and interfering with the flight crew.
The plan was on a Houston to Chicago flight last May but was diverted to St. Louis, where Reynel Alcaide was arrested. Court records show he has been ruled mentally competent to stand trial if he pleads not guilty.
