Did St. Louis radio station jump the gun on Pujols signing with Cards?

November 16, 2011 By Bill Pollock

The rumors are starting to fly. KTRS 550 host JC Corcoron tweeted Wednesday afternoon: “Albert to announce on Friday he’s re-signing with the Cardinals.” Corcoron said on his show he is getting his information from two sources.

Later in the day, Sports Illustrated’s Jon Heyman countered with the following on Twitter: “#stlcards spokesman: gm john mozeliak says radio rumor pujols already has signed to return to #stlcards is false.”

Apparently GM John Mozeliak met with Pujols’ agent Dan Lozano last night and the Cardinals may have modified their nine year $198 to $205 million dollar offer that was out there before spring training.

Pujols was in Miami on Friday talking with the Marlins, getting a tour of their new ballpark and new uniforms and reportedly left with a firm contract offer.
