Missouri Southern head football coach Bart Tatum has announced his resignation as of Monday, November 14, 2011. He will remain with Missouri Southern Athletics as a football consultant during the transition period and until such time as a new head coach is named. Tatum’s shift to the role of football consultant begins immediately.

Tatum served as head football coach for six seasons at Missouri Southern, compiling a 25-39 overall mark. He ranks third at Missouri Southern in career football coaching wins.

“Bart is a man of high moral character who has dedicated the last six years to Missouri Southern and the football program,” said Athletics Director Jared Bruggeman. “I, personally, appreciate his dedication, hard work and strength of character over the time I have known him. We wish Bart and his family the best.”

A national search for Tatum’s replacement will begin immediately.
