UPDATE: Body determined to be that of missing St. Louis toddler

November 15, 2011 By Mike Lear

Authorities have confirmed the body found near the River Des Peres is that of 18 month-old Tyler Dasher of St. Louis. The young boy had been the subject of a missing child alert earlier in the day.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Dasher’s mother says she put him to bed Monday night and reported him missing after she woke up around 11:00 Tuesday morning. Searchers found the body of a boy in the afternoon along the south side of the River. The St. Louis County medical examiner’s office has since identified it as that of the missing child.

Police have questioned the boy’s mother and father but have not identified any suspects. A witness reported seeing a man with a child wrapped in a blanket walking about a mile from the Dasher home Tuesday afternoon.
