The Missouri Tigers improved to 2-0 winning the opening round of the CBE Classic with an 81-63 win over the Mercer Bears, Monday night at Mizzou Arena. Phil Pressey led the Tigers with 22 points.

Mizzou built a 22 point lead in the first half, but cold shooting in the second half, let Mercer get the game back to a 10-point deficit at 63-53 with 5:05 to play. Kim English’s three pointer started Mizzou on an 18-10 run to close out the game. English finished with 18 points and Marcus Denmon added 12.

Head coach Frank Haith was a little disappointed that the Tigers lost focus in the second half.  He said they will need to take better care of the basketball on offensive possessions.  Frank Haith postgame (4:00)

The Tigers will host Niagara on Thursday.
