St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo confirmed that rookie wide receiver Greg Salas’ rookie season is over after he suffered a broken fibula in Sunday’s game at Arizona. Salas will be placed on injured reserve.

The injury happened with less than five minutes to go in regulation when he caught a pass and was dragged down from behind by Cardinals LB Darryl Washington. Salas’ leg get tripped up in the grass and his leg tangled up with Washington’s as they landed.

“The guy who was tackling him got underneath. I’m not so sure there was anything Greg could do about that,” said Spagnuolo. “The guy tackled him and fell on his leg.”

Salas led the Rams with seven catches for 59 yards on Sunday and was the team’s leading receiver with 27 catches for 264 yards in the first eight games this season.
